Dorothy (Dot) L. Rankin was born April 26, 1919, in Cairo, Egypt. Early in her life, Dot became involved in improving the lives of of youth and children, going on to work as a missionary in Sudan and Ethiopia. After 43 years, she returned to Xenia, Ohio but continued with her mission calling.
Established in December, 1995, the Dorothy L Rankin Memorial Fund was started by Joseph E Eavey of Xenia, Ohio, to continue such Christian mission projects and other religious and charitable programs his sister, Missionary Dorothy L “Dot” Rankin had been funding or was interested in prior to her death. In January, 2011, the Dorothy L. Rankin Memorial Fund established a grant program to continue this goal.
In the nearly 20 years the Fund has been in existence, approximately $43,500 has been distributed to 116 organizations, programs and charities to support their efforts in improving the lives of youth and children locally, nationally and globally.
